Early Years
Early Years at Boroughbridge Primary School is where every child’s learning journey begins. At Boroughbridge Primary School we believe that learning is brought to life both in and beyond the classroom.
We provide a nurturing, stimulating environment where children thrive through rich learning experiences and exciting enrichment opportunities. They take part in educational visits to places such as Big Sheep Little Cow and Newby Hall’s Teddy Bear Museum, to local walks to the high street and local nursing home where children share Christmas songs with residents.
Early Years pupils are fully included in whole-school celebrations and national events such as Red Nose Day, World Book Day, Children in Need and Mental Health Awareness activities, helping them feel part of our wider school community from the very start.
Children enjoy a range of special in-school experiences including Easter celebrations, our decorated egg competition, Reception Nativity performances, a special Christmas Nursery stay-and-play session. Early years children join together for the annual sports day and love watching the end of year play by the year children. An active Friends of Boroughbridge School (FOBS) parent association enriches school life further through inclusive events such as discos, book fairs, colour runs and a community bike ride to Great Ouseburn, all of which are accessible to our youngest learners. After-school clubs are also available throughout the year.
We value strong partnerships with parents and regularly invite families into school to share their children’s learning, celebrate achievements and experience school life together. We have opportunities each half term where parents can join their children to see what active and engaging learning has been happening.
By the end of Early Years, our children leave with confidence, curiosity and a genuine love of learning, fully prepared for a smooth transition into Key Stage 1.
